The Fight Goes On

Okay, so I THOUGHT the spam problem was fixed. And yeah, MOSTLY it was. I mean, yesterday alone, my new spam catcher caught 700 spams. But gobs still got through. So I shut down comments for the night so I wouldn't have to get up and have a bazillion notices jamming up my inboxes.

Am angry. But I'm also determined to beat the bastards. So today I'm going to be making some modifications, totally taking up time I should be spending on writing, but dammit, I WILL win. *wrings hands and cackles* Yeah, baby, I'm taking off the gloves, throwing down the gauntlet, and all those other cliches.

Will someone PLEASE develop a program so that when you get spam, you can push a button that will send a surge through the internet and cause the spammer's equipment to blow up? With the spammer? <–bloodthirsty

K, off to fight.

I was getting Tons-O-Spam, too. I finally made it where only people previously approved could comment. Everything else has to be moderated. It’s not an ideal solution, but it beats having to go back and delete all the spam. This way I can nuke it all with one fell swoop.

Tori, I hear you. ARGH! My problem isn’t that the spams make it to the posts and need to be deleted. My problem is that they DON’T make it to the posts. Instead, they go into the moderation panel…which is a good thing, except that when 1000 of them go in there, it wreaks havoc with my email inbox. I could turn off comment notification, but they will still go into my site inbox…which then fills up and I don’t get legitimate mail. It is SO annoying!!!!

I keep having the same spammer hit my mailing list repeatedly.
