Okay, I've finally rejoined Romance Writers of America, because I need to register for conference. But right now, I've got to submit my PAN information (what a pain,) and then join some chapters. I was thinking of Passionate Ink, and maybe the Futuristic, Fantasy, and Paranormal chapters. I think I'll join a local chapter too, since I'm near one for the first time. I've always lived in remote areas where the nearest chapter was hours away, but yay, not anymore!
Anyway, what chapters do you belong to? What do you recommend? Have you found online chapters to be helpful/useful? Or not so much?
And are you going to National?

I’m in Passionate Ink and FF&P. Both great chapters, though I’m terribly inactive due to my horrid schedule. I need to get better about that.
But I am a member, at least.

I was considering Passionate Ink, since I’ve finally contracted my erotic romance for later in the year, but I’m not sure what being a member might do for me. What being in a chapter might do for me, since I can’t get out to the meetings, esp with the new babies on the way.
Is it still worth joining?

I dropped my RWA membership eons ago. So I have no input to give.

I’m in Passionate Ink, although I need to bug somebody about that because I’m not getting the newsletter or anything yet. PAN, er, crap, didn’t think about that. Guess I’d better put that on my To Do list.

I’m in Passionate Ink too. I think there is a lot of good information there and lots of support from other erotic romance writers. I think you’d like them. Charlene, hop on over to the PI forum.
I still belong to the From the Heart online chapter too. I’ve done really well in their contests (just got another request - whoo hoo!.)
I also belong to a local chapter and my friendships there mean a lot to me.

PI is the only chapter I belong to, but I think I’ll try a different one this year. I didn;t learn alot or get much from PI personally, but I thinkt hats more me than the chapter as I’m not exactly super active in it.

I’m a member of the Orange County Chapter (far far away!) and RWAOnline which I adore. It’s the original online chapter and it’s a great group of writers. BTW, it’s a BBS system if that makes a difference. (http://www.rwaonlinechapter.org)

I joined PI a couple of months ago and there seems to be a lot of support and info, together wtih a good friendly atmosphere, so you feel okay about asking questions. I’m planning to join FF&P too. Because I’m so far away it helps me feel more a part of things, and for the price, that’s really worthwhile. If you enjoy entering contests, too, a great reason to be part of it. I’d so love to join the chapter lunch at RWA, but it might be another year or so before that happens!

Steph, I swear, you have the weirdest luck!
Jaci, that’s my big fear is that I won’t be active!
Dee, I know what you mean about local chapters! I’m fortunate that my son is old enough that I can go to local meetings!
Tori, I’ve let mine lapse a million times — but I really wanted to go to National this year! LOL
I’ll be there with you soon, Charlene!
Natasha, I always liked FTH…I might join again.
Sasha, yeah, I’m afraid I won’t be active and get anything out of joining some of these groups, but I’ll give it a year and see.
Gina, I’ll check out RWAOnline. Thanks!
Saskia, I hope you get to make it to RWA sometime! I’d love to meet you!

I joined KOD!!!! Lots of helpful information and a safe place to ask questions like “can you describe an asthma attack?” and “what exactly do you do after someone’s been shot?” but I mostly lurk. And my local chapter. I got mad at RWA Office and wrote them a not so very nice letter when i sent them my renewal. I still haven’t done the PAN thing…soon yes I know. I hope to go to nationals if I can find someone to watch my boys.
