Today my dad and stepmom are coming for a visit. They're bringing me dishes to replace those lost in the hurricane. What's cool is that my dad made the dishes. He's been making pottery for years, and now has a business that is doing really well. His pottery sells all over the world now, and it's just gorgeous. I got to pick my colors and design, and I can't wait to see it! He even made me little cat food dishes for my cats.
Here's a sample of some of his dishes…if you scroll down you can see the dinnerware and pie plates he made me–different colors, though!
He also made me a set of three nesting mixing bowls, three nesting serving bowls, a casserole, soup bowls, and a garlic pot. I know, not too exciting, but it'll be so awesome to have matching dishes and serveware–the stuff I had before was all pretty mix-and-match!

Very pretty! I adore handmade stuff, especially by family members. My sister took several semesters of pottery in college. She made me a set of 4 cannisters, several odds and ends (even a KC Chiefs mug) and a tea set. Unfortunately, the spout of the pot closed off during firing, but the cups and pot are gorgeous. She hasn’t taken another class in ages and really misses it. I’m bookmarking your dad’s site for the next time I need a special, unique gift!

How awesome! Yay, Dad!
I love the crystalline black work. Hmmm - I may need to look for work more quickly if I’m going to order anything.
I need to convince hubby they are necessary  You know, for the cooks peace of mind.

Thanks, Joely, and how cool that your sis made some stuff! I’ve always wanted to, but I’m so impatient!
PJ, the crystalline black work was my favorite, too. That’s what I picked!
Jean, I agree! Very neat to give my son someday.
LOL, Kim–not always sure that’s a good thing!
Thanks, Amy! I already picked the colors–he was just bringing me the finished work. It’s BEAUTIFUL!
Thanks, Chey! I did!
