A Worthy Cause
Jan at Writeminded turned me on to this cause, and it's a fantastic one!
Every time I evacuated from a hurricane, I packed up my pets. But you can't evacuate your pets from an unexpected house fire, especially if you aren't home. Many times, firefighters find pets, dead from smoke inhalation, and even without equipment, these heroic men will try to revive the animals. Unfortunately, human masks don't fit animals, making it difficult to deliver oxygen to the pets.
But Help Animals, Inc., had developed a program to deliver animal-specific rescuscitation masks to fire departments, police K-9 units, and wildlife rehab facilities. It's a terrific cause, but they need help. The masks, like any other medical equipment, are expensive. Your donation helps get these masks to those who need them. What is so great, though, is that when you make the donation, you can specify who you want to send the masks to–your LOCAL fire department, for example.
If you can't afford to pay for masks, visit their gift shop. For very small donations, you can buy note cards and sympathy cards for those who have lost beloved pets. HELP Animals can also take general donations in any amount.
I love this cause!
