A Worthy Cause

This month's worthy cause is pretty cool. Heifer International doesn't give money to people–it gives people ways to sustain themselves by providing livestock, education, and resources to those who struggle to survive under difficult geographical, meteorological, and political conditions. Heifer International also works to protect the environment while working on long-term solutions for ending hunger in the areas where they work.

I have personal experience with Heifer International, and can recommend them. My SIL works at a vet clinic and purchased chicks in her boss’s name for Christmas (I ordered for her–she doesn’t have internet at home, the horror!). The vet *loved* the idea of helping people at the same time!

There’s also an international vet group that tends to the animals of the poor in 3rd-world countries. One of my parents’ family friends is in it.
