RWA National

Wednesday, July 8th, 2009

Katiebabs just HAD to remind me that the national Romance Writers of America conference is next week. Where there will be a gob of my friends, authors I stalk like to read, readers who like to read, editors, agents, and all around fun. Oh, and some seminars and stuff so you actually get to learn stuff.

I wanna goooooooooo!!!!!!
Yes, I'm whining. I should be happy that I got to attend the Romantic Times Convention, and call it good.

But darn it, I really love the RWA convention too.

So are any of you going? Should I be envious of you too?

Romance Junkies Blue Ribbon Favorite!

Monday, July 6th, 2009

blueribbonbanner Woo hoo! I just learned that Passion Unleashed is listed as one of Romance Junkies favorite books of 2009 so far!

Awesome!

Also listed are books by Jaci Burton, Lauren Dane, Maya Banks, Stephanie Rowe, Donna Grant, Nalini Singh, Angela Knight…and many others. I'm in some great company!
Anyway, I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I managed to crash my bike and am extremely sore and still recovering from that, but otherwise, it went well!

Okay, off to write!

Happy 4th of July!

Saturday, July 4th, 2009

For me, this is always a bittersweet holiday. I love the cookouts and the fireworks and the fact that it is an important day in American history. But it's a also a day of accidents, and terror for animals (so many sickos out there like to torture animals with firecrackers, as well.) So please, have fun, but stay safe, and keep your animals indoors for the next few days!

Happy Independence Day!

I LOVE Winter…er…Summer?

Wednesday, July 1st, 2009

So I'm sitting on my couch in sweats and slippers, getting warm in front of a blazing fire while drinking hot cocoa. Outside it's in the low fifties, overcast, and drizzling.

Gotta love summer in Wisconsin.
Lest you think I'm being sarcastic…I'm not! I love this! After three HOT summers in Virginia and no real winters, this is heaven! Oh, it'll warm up outside, and that's fine too, but right now, I'm just really, really loving this weather!

How's YOUR weather?

If You Have a Cat…

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

Please check out this post. It's heartbreaking, but an important warning about Hartz flea products. I will NEVER buy a Hartz product again.

Hugs to everyone who has had to watch their pets suffer.

Ecstasy Unveiled is…Unveiled!

A DEMON ENSLAVED

Lore is a Seminus half-breed demon who has been forced to act as his dark master’s assassin. Now to earn his freedom and save his sister’s life, he must complete one last kill. Powerful and ruthless, he’ll stop at nothing to carry out this deadly mission.

AN ANGEL TEMPTED

Idess is an earthbound angel with a wild side sworn to protect the human Lore is targeting. She’s determined to thwart her wickedly handsome adversary by any means necessary—even if that means risking her vow of eternal chastity. But what begins as a simple seduction soon turns into a passion that leaves both angel and demon craving complete surrender.

Torn between duty and desire, Lore and Idess must join forces as they battle their attraction for each other. Because an enemy from the past is rising again—hellbent on vengeance and unthinkable destruction.

Woo hoo! Whatcha think? Is that cover hot, or what? :)

Getting Ready For Romantic Times!

Friday, April 17th, 2009

It's coming up fast! Too fast. *gulp*

Today I've got some packages to mail, and then it's off to the hair dresser (where they have massage chairs and they give me wine,) and Belk for a pair of shoes. And then maybe the grocery story for travel and room snacks. Busy day today, so I won't get any writing done, but I can use the evening for catching up on email and finishing up contest stuff (Those of you who haven't received your prizes for the Spread The Word contest; they are either in the mail or you'll get the certs. tonight!)

Planning to write on Saturday and then pack on Sunday.

What do you have on tap for the weekend?

The Amazon Issue

Sunday, April 12th, 2009

Interrupting my usual posts for something of concern to authors and readers who use Amazon's search engine:

Recently, Amazon apparently implemented some sort of new policy, where they are removing the sales rankings from books with erotic content or gay/lesbian lifestyle content (whether or not it is erotic.)

If this is the case, this might not seem like a huge deal, but the problem is that with the loss of the rankings came an inability to effectively search out these books.

(I've deleted the stuff here because of the update below…looks like the stuff I talked about will be fixed!)

For more information about this, here are some links that explain it better than I ever could:

Amazon Rank by Dear Author

Booksquare

Amazon Rank, by Smart Bitches

Dear Amazon, by Stephanie Tyler

Amazon Censors, by Dear Author

The Love Affair is Over, by Maya Banks

THIS JUST IN: Publisher's Weekly Report

UPDATE: Rankings and search are BACK! But…still angry.

I do want this resolved, because I've always loved Amazon. But yo, we need an adequate response!

Lisa Kleypas and Stephanie Tyler

Friday, March 27th, 2009

First of all, I want to thank everyone who voted for Pleasure Unbound in the DABWAHA! Boy, people really rallied — it got intense for a time, and we lost, but considering that the poll was down for a while and that I was up against LISA KLEYPAS, lost by a handful of votes is pretty darned impressive. Love you guys!!!!

And a note about Lisa Kleypas…I just love her. I heard her speak at an RWA conference a couple of years ago — it was the first National conference after Katrina, and things were still raw for me. She talked about how she and her family had gone out to breakfast and came home to find that they'd lost everything. She talked about how hard it was, how devastating, but she kept on going. I sat at that lunch and cried, because it brought back everything that had happened to us in Katrina, and I just connected with what she said. She's a strong, beautiful, positive woman, and if I have to lose to anyone, I'm honored that it was her. :) WTG, Lisa!

Now that I'm all warm and fuzzy, I have to tell you to hop over to Stephanie Tyler's brand-spanking new website, where she's just revealed her two new book covers for her upcoming SEAL series with Bantam. Awesome!!!! The website is great, and I LOVE the covers. And just wait until you read the books! Yum!!!!!

Congrats, Steph!
