Checking In!

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

 I know…It's been forever since I posted, so I figured I'd do a quick catch-up!

I always tend to get very scarce as a deadline approaches, and I've definitely been in deadline mode. I've got some revisions to deal with on Tempting The Fire, which is the fifth Sydney Croft book, and I'm very close to finishing Sin Undone, which is the fifth Demonica book. I also have a high school reunion to go to this weekend (my husband's), and then there are the school projects (my son's.)

So…busy! But what's nice is that the weather is cooling down and getting icky (which I like,) and all the house stuff is almost finished (landscaping and window dressings.) So very soon, we'll have a finished house, snow, and finished books!

How have you been? Enjoying the fall weather? Reading any good books? Watching any good new shows? Dish!

Lotsa Links!

Saturday, August 1st, 2009

Hi everyone!

Well, today I'm at a couple of places, because it's fun to bounce around.

First, over at Playground Mystique, I'm there with Shade and Runa, interviewed by the lovely and talented Kensana Darnell, and we'd love it if you stopped by!

And over at Authors After Dark, I'm dispensing a little advice to aspiring and newly published authors. I get asked lots of questions, so I figured I'd throw some answers out. :)

(Okay, had a link here, but I deleted it because I actually plan to write a full post about it!)

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend!!!

Ecstasy Unveiled Up For Pre-Order!

Friday, July 31st, 2009

ecstacy-unveiled

I get so excited when I finally see one of my books available for pre-order on a website. It's like the book is REAL all of a sudden. (Not that the gobs of revisions, copyedits, and galleys weren't real  ) But it just is so fun. I love the little milestones that come with every book.

So anyway, Ecstasy Unveiled is available for Pre-Order at Amazon now!

Way To Go, Geri!!!!!

Friday, July 24th, 2009

RomVets member, author, and military veteran Geri Krotow put her romance novel in the hands of Michelle Obama. Very favorable reactions and newspaper writeups ensued. I LOVE it! Even Obama got in on the action!

A Romance Novel for Michelle Obama

Why Romance

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009

Over on the Squawk Radio blog today, author Teresa Medeiros talks about why she writes romance and, basically, why people who look down on romance or who continually focus only on the sex are really misguided and missing the point.

It's a WONDERFUL post.

A long time ago, I was one of those people who looked down my nose at romance. But that was before I actually read one (and seriously, I like to pride myself on being a very open, nonjudgemental person, so I'm extra angry at myself for being so narrowminded.)

After I finally broke down and read a romance, I realized how wrong I'd been. Romance isn't "girl porn" or "trashy" or "cheesy." It's about emotion. About the trials EVERY human goes through when they date — heck, when they LIVE. It's about how feelings for someone guide your everyday decisions in life.

Every one of us experiences romance in real life — finding a mate is what we are genetically programmed to do. So WHY is this something to look down on? I don't get it. The very men who propose on one knee to the woman they love, the very women who plan big, dreamy weddings…they make fun of romance novels, and yet, they have LIVED a romance novel.

So anyway, I get so tired of defending what I read and write…and I have to thank Teresa for defending it in a very, very classy manner.

Go forth and read! :)

Left Behind and Loving It!

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

Okay, maybe I'm not SO thrilled with being left behind and not being able to go to the Romance Writers of America convention. BUT…there are positives. Like the fact that I'm going to get lots of writing done! Yay, right?

Yeah.

Anyway, there is also Lynn Viehl's LB&LI workshops and giveaways. The woman is an incredible author, and her knowledge and generosity, frankly, astounds me at times. If you're a writer, you NEED to be following her blog, especially now. And her giveaways are incredible — the grand prize? Winner's choice of the ASUS Eee PC 1005HA-P 10.1″ Seashell Netbook or a Sony PRS-700BC Digital Reader.

Want. Them. Both.
Okay, off to write. For some reason, books do NOT write themselves…

…is at Writeminded!

Talking about Bite Me (the TV show) and how eating the cysts you find in beef is a bad idea, unless you WANT to poop out tapeworms on camera…

A Round Robin and a New Book!

Friday, July 10th, 2009

Today, my installment of the round-robin short story, White Wedding Nightmares, is up! It's a fun, first-person urban fantasy/romance story started by author Angie Fox, and then continued, in this order, by: Cynthia Eden, Michelle Rowen, Teresa D'Amario, Jacquelyn Frank, Natale Benzel, Cathrin Berlin, Elissa Wilds, and me.

So anyway, check out the Romance in the Backseat Round Robin!

In other news, The Mammoth Book of Special Ops Romance has made an appearance! Not sure if the cover is final for the U.S. release, but I hope so, because I love it. (Click on the cover for a close-up.) This book will contain the Sydney Croft short story, Code Word: Storm, about Annika and Creed, and it takes place between ACRO books 1 & 2 in the timeline.

Okay, off to do edits. Have a wonderful weekend!
