8 Things About Me

Thursday, June 7th, 2007

This one is Sharon's fault. The Rules:

1. Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.

2. People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.

3. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.

4. Don't forget to leave them a comment telling them they're tagged, and to read your blog.

Okay, 8 things I THINK are new about me:

1. I have had Cat Scratch Fever. No kidding.

2. I have trouble pronouncing words that begin with "W" and "R" if in a row. But the "R" word has to come after the "W" word. For example, I can say, Right Way Whale. I cannot, however, say, Way Red Whale. It comes out as, "Way Wed Whale." This was a huge source of amusement for pilots in the Air Force, when I'd give them a forecast or recent observation that was appended with "Wet Runway." It always ended up being "Wet Wunway." They'd think they were pretty funny when they said, "Thanks for the forecast, Elmer Fudd!" Yeah, pilots are hilarious.

3. Water chestnuts make me throw up. Just biting into one makes me ralph.

4. I can walk into a house and know if someone died inside it.

5. When I was pregnant, I refused to find out the sex of my baby because I wanted it to be a surprise…even though I just KNEW the baby would be a boy.

6. I've been on the set of Star Trek: The Next Generation

7. I rarely shave both legs at the same time. I do one per day. (My hair is blond, fine, and grows SLOW so there's never any stubble.)

8. I once spilled an entire pitcher of beer on an Air Force colonel. Teach him to call me Elmer…

Okay, I'm not tagging anyone, but take pity on me and just do this for fun. Yeah, that's it. And then come tell me you did it! *g*

Tagged

Beth tagged me. I'd beat her, but I didn't have anything to blog about anyway.

So here are da rules:

1. Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.

2. People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.

3. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names. I will probably just make people choose themselves. Much easier. And no lynchings.

4. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

8 random facts/habits about me …

1. I have a balloon phobia. I hate them. I live in fear of them.

2. I've had chicken pox 3 times.

3. I've seen Titanic about 800 times…but have only watched it through once. I ALWAYS turn it off before the ship goes down.

4. I've been watching General Hospital since my Sophomore year of high school.

5. Politically, I'm a centerist.

6. Plants hate me. Plastic plants die in my presence.

7. I wear slipper socks ALL THE TIME. Even in the summer. Hate to be barefoot in a house.

8. I'm pretty good on a motorcycle.

Okay, I tag…well, just someone do this meme and tell me about it so I can feel like I've done my duty.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Wednesday, February 14th, 2007

In honor of love and romance and dating, I took a blog quiz about dating. Not that I'm dating, seeing how I'm happily married. But if I WERE to date, here's who I'm supposed to avoid:

Never Date an Aquarius

Freaky, unconventional, and downright strange – it's likely that any Aquarius will weird you out.
And if you do happen to fall for an Aquarius, you'll probably find them too emotionally distant to connect with.

Instead try dating: Cancer, Pisces, Capricorn, or Virgo

Heh…I dated an Aquarius once…and this fits him to a T. He ended up stalking me for years afterward!

Women’s Fiction Meme

Saturday, January 27th, 2007

Womens Fiction Book Meme - Both Charlene and Alison tagged me, and their versions are slightly different, so I'm combining the two!

Contemporary, Historical, or Paranormal?

Wow, this is tough. And impossible to choose. I love all three, but have read more paranormals and contemporaries lately. I'm also WAY pickier about paranormals.

Hardback or Trade Paperback or Mass Market Paperback?

I don't like hardbacks — too hard to read. Trades are probably my favorites, but MMs are cheaper!
Heyer or Austen?

Austen

Amazon or Brick and Mortar?

I buy the most books from Amazon, but I LOVE going into a brick and mortar store. There's nothing like actually touching and caressing the books!

Barnes & Noble or Borders?

Borders. Because they carry Secrets volumes, and I haven't found a B&N that does.

Woodiwiss or Lindsay?

Lindsay

First romance novel you ever remember reading?

Okay, I'm horribly ashamed to admit this, but I can't remember the title or author. It was a Harlequin Historical with this alpha knight and a virgin red-headed woman he kept in his castle…yeah, I know, that tells you a lot. I do remember the first contemporary romance I read though…Linda Howard's Mackenzie's Mission. I was HOOKED on milroms!

Alphabetize by author Alphabetize by title or random?

Huh? It's too early in the morning to think.

Keep, Throw Away or Sell?

Mostly keep, but I donate some!

Bridget Jones or Becky Bloomwood?

Bridget the movies.

Read with dustjacket or remove it?

Depends on how much it's annoying me or how much traveling the book has to do. Don't want to bang up the dustjacket.

Sookie Stackhouse or Anita Blake?

Don't like Anita Blake, and what the heck is a Sookie?

Stop reading when tired or at chapter breaks?

If the book is good, I don't stop. If it's not really good, I stop when tired.

It was a dark and stormy night or Once upon a time?

Dark and stormy night, baby.

Crusie or SEP?

SEP! Who I'm meeting in February, thanks to Michelle!

Buy or Borrow?

Buy my budget limit and then swap w/authors!

Buying choice: Book Reviews, Recommendation or Browse?

Recommendations, mostly. And then browse. Rarely do book reviews sway me.

Tidy ending or Cliffhanger?

As long as the main plot is tied up satisfactorily, I'm cool with cliffhangers, assuming series books, here.

Morning reading, Afternoon reading or Nighttime reading?

All of them.

Series or standalone?

Love series! If I fall in love with a world, I want to stay there forever, and I can't get that from one book. Want more. One Indiana Jones movie would not be enough, so why would one book in a great world with great characters?

Favorite book of which nobody else has heard?

I'm sure everyone has heard of it, but not everyone has read it. Pillars of the Earth. I LOVE that book.
